I’ve tried all kinds of things that I thought would enhance UX, like sidebar on the bottom, blogroll tucked away on a separate page, just one post per page, etc. etc. At last I’ve come “full circle” — a very traditional layout — and I swear my traffic has increased because of it.

I wouldn’t know about the increased traffic, but I’ve been through that, too! I’ve been experimenting a lot with different layout types for this blog more than the rest, but I’ve ended up going with the traditional layout as well. I suppose there IS a reason why most blogs have this sort of setup!

Never thought about using one large background image quite like that for a navigation menu, but it makes a lot of sense. Will definitely be keeping that in mind in the future. :) Have been debating starting my own design blog, but can't quite make up my mind about that or not... Hmm.
