I think part of the reason why I've found it difficult to write recently is precisely <em>because</em> of that. Creative writing is different from journal writing in that sense--journal writing is so obviously <em>personal</em> while the former is more audience-oriented. People expect you to write this and that, to use your "power" to do certain things. Bleugh. I remember this part of the last writing/inspiration book I read, that being honest to oneself and writing what is in your heart always, always results in an original story/piece. Because only you have your heart. :) It's a wonderful (and somewhat daunting) thought. That’s true. I've found that some authors lose their own "voice" along the way..when they start listening to what other people think they *should* write. How does one do justice to what is in one’s heart? Hmmn...
